After finishing my yakitori dinner, I headed off the one of the most famous spots of Shinjuku, the Kabukichō Ichiban-gai signboard. There are a few streets in Kabukichō, an entertainment district, and I had to find the first street where the signboard is located. It was already night-time even though it was only 6pm but it was also a good time to take some night shots. Along the way, I took some photos before reaching my destination.
This was the main road where the start of every street of Kabukichō was located. Looking at my Google Maps, I saw that the first street was just further down. I made my way there and saw that a crowd had gathered to cross the street as there was a traffic light. As I neared, I could catch a glimpse of the red signboard and knew I was in the right place.
There were some shops and businesses located in this area and this included 7-Eleven, restaurants and a coffee shop. After crossing the street, you could see that many other shops with neon signboards lined up as you walked further down.
I made a sketch from this angle with the signboard diagonally placed at the top and the shops can be seen lining up with their neon lights shining brightly. It was a unique place and I was happy to have made a memory of this place with my sketch.
