My final morning in Kanazawa was spent sketching this interesting sculpture that was situated at the entrance of the Kanazawa Train Station. Tsuzumi-mon Gate appeared dark brown on a snowy morning as I made my way from my hotel which was just 3 minutes walk to the train station.
The falling snow made some contrast to the otherwise dark color of the structure as I splattered some white paint on my sketch to create some snow falling that somehow broke the overly-dark area of the gate. The Yukitsuri on both sides formed some interesting complements to the main focus as I used some Burnt Sienna mixed with black to create the rich brown-ness of the structure.
After returning to the hotel and packing my bags, I proceeded back to the train station where I set off again by Shinkansen back to Tokyo for another two more days in Japan. By now, I have completed almost two-thirds of my sketchbook and I was really happy to have come here and added some interesting sketches in my collection.
