Kenroku-en is one of the three most beautiful gardens of Japan and it is located in Kanazawa. On my second day here, I decided to take a bus down from my hotel to visit the garden. It was a few bus stops away and after alighting the bus, I had to walk up a slope into the park. It was covered in snow but the view of the trees around me were spectacular. After a while, I reached a lake that was partially frozen and I was greeted with this view:
There was a piece of land in the middle of the lake that visitors can walk to using some steps and upon reaching here, many tourists took some photos. The backdrop was filled with trees and snow while there were a few houses and Yukitsuri, which were the triangular tree supports that Kanazawa was famous for, dotted the area as well. I took a few shots with my phone from here too.
I made a sketch with a Yukitsuri and some houses and trees with snow as the backdrop as I thought this formed an interesting composition. After visiting this area, the path led to more interesting discoveries as it sloped upwards further into the garden.
Houses covered in snow were seen along the snow-covered path. It was a breath of fresh air walking in this beautiful garden and a must-visit place if you're visiting Kanazawa. I was happy to visit one of the most famous gardens of Japan and make an interesting sketch out of it.
